"She's evil I'm telling you. She's nothing but evil. She had me washing bed pans out until midnight. WITHOUT MAGIC, she needs to be, I don't know, hung by her tounge form the roof of the Great Hall or something." Sirius ranted and raved and James laughed as both boys devoured their lunch. Remus on the other hand was a little preoccupied with the fact that the moon was going to be full that night and he still had no idea what to do. A sharp elbow to the ribs woke him up. "What are you staring at mate?" asked James amusedly. When Remus looked where his gaze had driffted he noticed it had landed on a rather unattractive blonde from Ravenclaw. "Gah! no I wasn't staring at her, that, no, that's just not right!" Remus stammered. "Sure mate, we know you weren't. You just happened to look over there. We believe you." joked Sirius. Remus couldn't help but smile at himself. He managed to choke down a few bites of a sandwich when Proffesor McGonagall strode over to where the boys were sitting. Sirius and James both switched on the charm. "Hello Professor how are you?" They chorused batting their angelic eyes at her. "I'm fine boys. I would like to talk to Remus though." James and Sirius looked at Remus almost as if to say sorry we tried. Mcgonagall and Remus walked out the Great Hall and down to McGonalls office. As they entered McGonagalll took a set behind the big mahagony desk that took up most of the room. Remus took a seat on the other side, wondering what was going on. "Remus, as you know, tonight is the full moon. " Remus sighed, "Good, I thought I was in trouble because I handed in my essay late." Mcgonagall smiled and shook her head. "No, thats not it, thought it would be nice of you to hand in your work when it is due. Tonight about an hour before sunset, either myself or Madam Pompfrey will escort you to where it will be safe for you to transform. Of course you are to tell no one where you are going and what are you are doing. " Remus smiled rather angsty, yet kept a calm manner. "Okay Professor. I'll be waiting in the common room then." Remus finished and left the room as McGonagall stared after him. "Would you...stop....throwing...food at me Black!" Jenna screamed halfway across the table, startling most of the upperclassmen. Sirius grinned and chucked a peice of pie at her face. Jenna scowled and made a pumpkin juice flask float towards Sirius and let it drench his head. James rolled on the floor with laughter and Sirius smirked, yet his face visibly red. Jenna stared at him "Come on you great evil git, show me some more of your wonderfulness." she hissed. James snorted into his pie even more, only to make Sirius kick him in the ankle. Sirius smirked yet again. "Alright Prewitt. You want to finish this? Then let's do it. Wizard's duel tonight in the common room at 2. James is my second, and I suppose you will pick Evans as yours, unless you want to risk having Cauldron tripping all over the bloody place. Or you'd like Star who will bloody banish me to Godric only knows where with her backfiring wand." he paused watching Jenna snarl at him, Lily stare at James and Lindsey pick the peices of salad out of her hair from when she tripped into the table. He started with her again. " But I suppose you'll pick Evans, since by first year standards is pretty damn smart. So I'll meet you there. Cheers poppet." he winked at Jenna and left the table dragging Peter behind him. "James, look behind you." whispered Frank Longbottom, a second year gryffindor. "There is a girl staring at you and trying to make it look like she's not. She's not doing a very good job. I'll tell you that now. Turn around and smile at her or wink or something." Frank prodded him with a fork. James squirmed out of the way and looked at Lily. He winked and ran his hands through his already mused hair. Lily just rolled her eyes and turned back to Jenna. "Well that didn't go over how I thought it would." said Frank. James just sighed as he and Frank got up to leave. "Did you see him wink at me? Who does he think he is? Gah, he's do disgusting." Lily muttered as she took a sip from her pumpkin juice. "So is that why you are blushing?" asked Jenna causeing Lily to shower half the table in juice. "I'M NOT BLUSHING HE JUST MAKES ME SO ANGRY!" "Whatever you say Lily. Whatever you say. Watch my stuff for a second would you love. I've got some business to attened to." Lily nodded as Jenna got up from the table with a smug grin on her face. 'I'll show him to challenge me to a duel.' she thought to herself as she walked through the Great Hall. As she made her way over to the HufflePuff Table she sought out two very distinct faces. Well, distinct from every one else but not eachother. She spotted the twins and snuck up behind them. As she covered their eyes she whispered int here ears. "Guess who?" Both boys shrugged and Jenna removed her hands. She was immedeitly swallowed up in a hug. "Little cousin, how are you? How has your first week been? Are you finding your way through the school alright?" asked one. Jenna was immediatly able to tell that he was Fabian. Even if he didn't have his glasses on his personality was the complete oppisite of his twin Gideon. Jenna nodded to all of his questions. Then Gideon started. "Are you ok, is any one picking on you, do I need to rough any one up?" Jenna smiled. "well," she said "You know that boy Sirius Black that mum insists that I marry one day?" Her cousins nodded. They knew him well. He was the outcast of a family of evil wizards and they weren't sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing. "Yes, well, he's been picking on me and he challenged me to a duel tonight in the common room. I don't want to look like a prat by squeling on him so I was wondering," Jenna smiled as innocently as possible "Could one of you be my second?" She gave her cousins the puppy dog eyes just to make sure that one wouldn't tell on the other. "Of course I will." said Gideon as he ruffled Jenna's hair. Fabian looked at him and shook his head. "I guess I am covering for you tonight then." Gideon smilled and nodded. Jenna was perplexed by what her cousin were talking about but was to smart to ask. She explained the details of the duel and left back to her table with a wicked grin on her face. "What is that look about?" asked Lily nervously. "I hope you don't really like that Potter boy because there might not be much left of him or Black tommorow morning." With that both girls got up and went off to Charms. The time when McGonagall had told her to wait for her in the common room was fast approaching and Remus was begining to get nervous. He had not idea what they were going to do to him or where they were taking him and the longer that he waited the more nervous he became. He played Sirius in a game of Wizards Chess and lost misarably, which had never happened before.James and Sirius were both begining to get nervous because they could feel Remus's nerves. "Mate, you've been out of it all day. Are you sure that there's nothing wrong?" asked James in a whisper. "It's nothing you can help with. Don't worry about it I'll be fine in a few days. I got an owl earlier and it's just had me a bit on edge that's all." Remus explained quickly. He looked out the window hesitantly. The sky was quickly turning from blue to orange and purple. He looked at his watch. An Hour and a half till the moon comes up. Remus started pacing. James and Sirius sat on the couch wondering what could have possibly made thier usually level headed and calm friend so jummpy. Suddenly the portrait hole swung open. "Mr Lupin." rang a voice that neither James not Sirius had heard before. They looked to the door and saw that it was a middle aged witch they knew to be the nurse. Remus walked over to her and they both left without a backwards glance at the common room. James and Sirius looked at eachother and then headed up to the dorm. If they were going to have a duel that night then they were going to do be well rested for it. They climbed into bed and passed out. Remus sighed as he walked around the house that was going to be his prison for the next few years of his life. 'It's not that bad' he thought to himself. The memories of being locked in a dark damp basement flooeded back to him. His whole body shuddered and he wasn't sure if it was from fear or if it was from the oncoming moon. 'No, definetly not as bad'. He walked up the stairs into a small bed room with a bed that looked exactly like the one in his dorm. He climbed into it knowing that he was going to need every ounce of strength he could muster to save himself tonight. |
